SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CN) – A new Illinois law bars sex offenders from working in health care professions. The law denies a health care license to anyone who is required to register as a sex offender. The law also applies to anyone convicted of a forcible felony, even if it does not involve sex. Supporters say patients seeking medical care should not be made vulnerable to criminals. Gov. Pat Quinn signed the bill into law Thursday.
