DALLAS — A Dallas man was fatally shot by police officers during an attempted arrest in which he pulled his gun on the officers, but threw it away just seconds before he was killed. The man’s family sued over the police’s use of force, but the federal court ruled that the family could not show the officer that shot him knew the man had disarmed himself when he fired his gun, and that the police officer reasonably believed the man was a risk to the police officers’ lives.
