Temporary protected status for Haiti

MANHATTAN — A group of Haitians secured a postponement of Kristi Noem’s decision to make the island nation’s temporary protected status designation expire sooner than the Feb. 3, 2026 date the Biden administration had set. When the status goes away, the Haitians immediately no longer be able to legally reside or work in the U.S., so the court holds the accelerated end of the designation will greatly injure them while providing little benefit to the public interest or the government.
