WASHINGTON (CN) – The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to base the maximum number of beds in state homes on estimates of need for the year 2020. The difference between the current and estimated number of beds helps to establish which states may obtain grants for construction or acquisition of state homes. The definition of “state” for these grants also would include Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa, if the VA regulation is adopted as planned.
